Lauren Unverzagt, assistant community manager at Aspire at CityPlace in Woodbury, Minnesota, received the MADACS Award for Assistant Manager (200-275 Units).

Her recognition reflects the important role assistant managers play in the day-to-day resident experience and operation of a community, from supporting residents and prospective residents to collaborating with onsite teams and helping keep community operations running smoothly.

September 22, 2022 – Commercial Investment Properties (CIP) was honored with four awards at the 27th Annual MADACS Awards presented by the Minnesota Multi Housing Association (MHA). The gala, held this year on September 16 in Minneapolis, recognizes significant achievements in the multi-family housing industry in a variety of categories. This is the fourth year in a row that CIP has been recognized.

Tommy Lupone, maintenance technician at Ascend at Woodbury (Woodbury, MN) won the award for Maintenance Individual: 175+ units. “We are so proud of Tommy for being awarded for his excellence in maintenance. He is a huge asset to our residents and team,” Chelsea Hopper, community business manager at Ascend at Woodbury shared. “This individual award is reflective of the dedication Tommy has for our residents and our community.”

The Rowan (Eagan, MN) received awards for Print Brochure and Website. The property brochure and website were designed by UpShift Creative Group in collaboration with CIP’s corporate marketing team and Jay Hanson, regional manager. The fresh design of each reflects the upscale, wellness-focused amenities The Rowan offers its residents. 

CIP won an award in the Community Support Program category for the fourth consecutive year. Each holiday season, CIP’s Minnesota teams partner with the non-profit organization Best Christmas Ever (BCE) to support a family who has fallen on hard times through no fault of their own. This year, the teams at Ascend at Woodbury (Woodbury), Aspire at CityPlace (Woodbury), The Central (Minneapolis), and The Preserve at Normandale Lake (Bloomington) coordinated fundraising efforts to collect over $24,000 in financial donations and countless gifts for the family who lost their father and husband after a battle with melanoma. “We’re extremely honored to be recognized again for our partnership with Best Christmas Ever. Each year, our teams look forward to coming together to help a family in need around the holidays. It’s even more special to be recognized for this as we are living out one of CIP’s core values, servanthood,” said Jay Hanson.

November 8, 2021 – Commercial Investment Properties (CIP) was honored with three awards at the 26th Annual MADACS Awards Gala presented by the Minnesota Multi Housing Association (MHA). The annual event, held this year on September 24 in Minneapolis, recognizes excellence in the multi-family housing industry in a variety of categories. This is the third year in a row that CIP has been recognized.

Ashlea Yean, former leasing specialist and now assistant community manager at Ascend at Woodbury (Woodbury, MN), was recognized for her exemplary leasing skills, by receiving the award of Leasing Consultant of the Year at a community under 10 years of age. Chelsea Hopper, Community Business Manager at Ascend at Woodbury shared, “In my short time at the property it has been made very apparent to me as to why she was not only nominated but also won. Her almost instant connection with prospects in conjunction to her continued support and dedication to our current residents have resulted in meaningful relationships that can be felt and observed by our entire team.”

Diana Goodman, assistant community manager at The Preserve at Normandale Lake (Bloomington, MN) was awarded Assistant Manager of the Year for market-rate apartments with 1-200 units. “Winning a MADACS award in an individual category is an incredible accomplishment, said Abbie Braun, Community Business Manager of The Preserve, Diana is an outstanding Assistant Manager and we’re very proud to have her on our team.”

Award nominees for the previous categories were evaluated by a panel of MHA judges across multiple categories, including financial success of the property, market knowledge, and professionalism.

CIP won an award in the Community Support Program category for the third consecutive year. During the holiday season, CIP’s teams at three Minnesota properties partnered with the non-profit organization Best Christmas Ever (BCE) to support a family who had fallen on hard times through no fault of their own. The teams at Ascend at Woodbury (Woodbury), The Central (Minneapolis), and The Preserve at Normandale Lake (Bloomington) coordinated fundraising efforts to collect monetary donations and gifts for the family who had recently lost their young son in an ATV accident. Together, CIP staff, vendors, community residents and local businesses came together to raise over $25,000 to help relieve the family financially while they grieved the loss of their family member. Other gifts included an office desk, bed, toys, and a Traeger grill. “It’s incredible to see a community come together to support one if its own like this. I feel very fortunate to work for a company who supports this partnership with BCE and gives us an opportunity to serve our community. This is really a special experience every year for our staff and residents.” said Nimmo.

The annual event, held this year on October 22nd as a virtual-only event from Minneapolis, recognizes excellence in the multi-family housing industry in a variety of categories.

Alyssa Nimmo, property manager at Ascend at Woodbury (Woodbury, MN), was honored as Community Manager of the Year for market-rate apartments with 251-319 units. Award nominees were evaluated by a panel of MHA judges across multiple categories, including financial success of the property, market knowledge, and professionalism. “Winning a MADACS award in an individual category is a tremendous accomplishment,” said Jay Hanson, Regional Manager at CIP. "Alyssa is an outstanding community manager and we're very proud to have her on our team."

The Preserve at Normandale Lake, a CIP community in Bloomington, MN, also received top honors for Best Landscape.

Additionally, CIP was honored for its Community Support program. For the second consecutive year, CIP property teams at three Minnesota communities partnered with the non-profit group Best Christmas Ever (BCE) to sponsor a family in need during the holidays. Property teams at Ascend at Woodbury (Woodbury), The Central (Minneapolis), and The Preserve at Normandale Lake (Bloomington) coordinated several events to raise money and collect gifts for a local family. The family unexpectedly lost their amazing wife, mother, and caretaker who had worked as a nurse for her entire career. Together, CIP employees, apartment residents, vendors, area businesses, and community members raised $13,000 to help pay the family's mortgage and medical bills. Other gifts included a dining table, a new bed, bicycles for the kids, and numerous other gifts. "It's so rewarding to see different groups of people come together in the spirit of giving. Servanthood is one of CIP’s core values, and our ongoing partnership with Best Christmas Ever gives us the opportunity to live that out. The gift drop-off was such a special experience that really touched us all,” said Hanson.

Abbie Braun, property manager at The Preserve at Normandale Lake (Bloomington, MN) and The Central (Minneapolis, MN), was honored as Community Manager of the Year for Multiple Sites. Award nominees participated in an on-site visit and interview by a panel of MHA judges, and were evaluated across 10 categories such as financial success of the properties, market knowledge and professionalism. “Abbie is a tremendous asset to CIP,” said Jay Hanson, Regional Manager at CIP.  “She not only ensures the financial success of our communities, she is a strong team leader and a resident favorite. Winning a MADACS award in an individual category is both a great personal and career accomplishment. We're very proud to have Abbie on our team!" 

Additionally, CIP was honored for its Community Support program, having partnered with the non-profit group Best Christmas Ever (BCE) to sponsor a family in need during the holidays last year. Property teams at Ascend at Woodbury (Woodbury, MN), The Central (Minneapolis, MN) and The Preserve at Normandale Lake (Bloomington, MN) coordinated several events to raise money and collect gifts for a local family – a mother with two daughters coping with the sudden loss of her husband to brain cancer and facing financial instability. Together, CIP’s employees, apartment residents, vendors, area businesses and community members raised $7,400 for the family. Additional gifts included clothing items, toys, art supplies, a TV, and a new furnace which was needed last winter. “Having all of these groups of people come together to help this family was such a special experience. Being present during the gift drop off brought many of us to tears and really gave us perspective on what is truly important in life. This program helped us live out CIP’s company value of servanthood, and we look forward to sponsoring another family this year,” said Hanson.
